Pumori pretty much said it. At least as of noon friday many had launched, but no yellowtails...

I moved around a lot and hit my "numbers" I metered very little out deep, but lots of bait and some larger marks, which obviously were bonito in about 90 feet, where I also got on an endless double-hook-up bite trolling frenzys on 12 pound test.

All 2 pound to 3 pound bonito, I kept five of the three pounders to smoke. Got bored with them after about 15 or so and went looking for the "right kind" dropped on one giant mark at 60' on a bait ball, no joy. Met IceMan and CajunMan coming in, paddled in with them...

At the launch there were little three-foot barrels occasionally lining up, and I watched three guys dump fishing yaks in a row. You had to wait, like a minute maybe and go in in-between the little rollers, but some didn't.

Sorry for the poor photo quality, my camera is a cheapo and doesn't do long shots well.

Still a nice morning on the water, and got a work-out tugging on bonito with my little freshwater bass rods, plus I *love* smoked bonito. Nice seeing the whales and the guys from all over also...

Qman - I suck at smoking bonies, skippies, and barries. Would you mind sharing your secrets? Thanks.

Nice pics despite the poor quality on the long ones Quietman. Are the seals giving you any problems out there lately? Last time I was out off LJ by boat we had 6 seals constantly dogging us.

Mig-

I'm working on a page on how to smoke fish, it will be done soon. Bonito are covered specially, as I prefer to use a dry cure rather than a brine with them.

Soon your chest-freezer will look like this...

Brett-

Usually the dogs are a problem. today the were inexplicably absent.
