Went to the usual place and tossed grubs and the frenzy from 13:30 till dark. Caught over 40 halibut, including several legals, kept one just shy of 10 pounds.
Yummy!
I have seldom ever had such a wide open bite on anything anywhere. The closest I suppose would have to be on a party boat in a school of starving mackeral. I had many double and triple hook-ups, and it got so stupid I held all three poles in one hand and took this picture of three hanging, including one (released) that went 28" as well as two smaller units. They were throwing themselves on everything, every cast.
Not something you see or do everyday...
It was so insane that the flattys were boiling on the floating frenzy, I was hooked up twice stopped dead on the crankbait just floating there, and hit over and over and over right at the side of the kayak.
Nice legal, one of many released untouched...
Now the SAD part...I LOST three monster halibut. One TORE THE HOOKS OFF my berkely frenzy crankbait, one straightened out the hook on a big football head jig I was tossing, and another just swam away with half my spool, headshaking the whole way, then wrapped and broke my line.
Yanni, who hot-footed it on down after a cel-call from me from the water, had another double-digit (starting with 2, most likely) halibut get off when it would not fit in his net!
INSANITY!
Yanni casting into the sunset, he got down in minutes when I called...
Anyway, that's the report from quietman for friday the 19th of december, 2003. _________________ quietman

Hunter,
That's a diver's stringer. You can get them at any dive shop or anywhere dive gear is sold.

Congradulations I was wondering why you were in such a hurry Saturday! I was going down La Paz Saturday around 11:00 am when I saw you pull out. I told my Wife that looks like Quietman sure enough you got on the Transportation corridor heading South. I told my wife I shouldn't be doing this Christmas shopping stuff I should go home get the Yak and be folling Quietman to Dana Point.
I guess I missed out again.
Last year at about this same time at your favorite place I caught 5 legals all on plastic. The biggest was 12lbs
I was the only one on the water at the time.
I've got to get my fat a$$ wet.
